Property Licensing Preparation

We have prepared and launched multiple property licensing schemes, including selective and additional houses in multiple occupation (HMO).

From understanding the want is, gathering and assessing the data, working with external professionals, through to preparing and presenting reports to Council’s Cabinet, liaising with DLUCH and making applications to the Sec. of State for large Selective Licensing schemes. Whether it is one ward or borough wide, we can work with you on the data analysis, implementation strategy, making your application and preparation with you existing team, so you hit the ground running and avoid backlogs of applications when your scheme starts.

Property Licensing Processing

We have many years of experience in processing all types of property licences (mandatory HMO, additional HMO and selective properties). We have worked with many of the major providers of licensing software. We can offer a ‘lean’ review of your property licensing process, so it is the most efficiency it can be.

Property Licensing Enforcement.

We have a lot of enforcement experience. From creation, review and implementation of your enforcement policy through your corporate decision making processes, to working with your data to identify hotspots in your borough. We have worked with enforcement teams to make them more efficient whilst operating inline with their corporate ethos. Whether it is a soft or hard approach desired, we can adapt and provide you with the service you want. We can also help you with notice service, banning orders, working with your problem solving or tasking teams.

Intelligence Gathering

This can be a time consuming and resource intensive task. Using our extensive contacts we can investigate and gather evidence on people and organisations. Working with other local authorities and external stakeholders we can take this task off you hand whilst you manage your cases

Targeted Action

Tackling specific areas in your borough can bring about quick results and help you use it as a pilot or example to others. Using our skills and experience we can assist you to target areas with a specific issue. For example, an area with waste in front gardens or unlicensed HMOs, using my environmental health, public health and data analysis knowledge we would be able to work with you and your data to define the area/s, create leaflets/letters with appropriate messaging. Spend time in the area delivering leaflets, engaging the public and gathering intelligence, identifying likely properties. We can produce a report with intel and data. This will allow you to target your in-house resources.

Website Design

The website landing page for your team is increasingly the first contact for your stakeholders. Often it is neglected. We have significant experience in redesigning researching the technical environmental health content and updating websites, whilst keeping inline with your corporate branding and accessibility standards. We work collaboratively with our clients throughout the design process to ensure their vision is realised in the final product.

Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)

We have worked with teams and individuals to train them on the various aspects of the HHSRS. We can act as mentor and help those who may need extra tor refresher training.

Policy and Procedure Review

This often get overlooked but is an important aspect of any environmental health team, especially when it comes to being audited. We can work with you and your team to review and update you policies, procedures and guidance notes. We can put into place a system for your team to review and update.

Creation of notices

You may need that you need a specific notice or letter not widely used, which you don't have in your system or shared drive. We can create and provide this in a short turnaround.

Debt Collection

Often overlooked but an important task for any environmental health or private sector housing team. With budgets being scrutinised and your finance partners increasing unwell to write off debt, combined with internal council debt collection departments unable to dedicate the time or lacking the expertise to recover Housing Act 2004 debt, we have access to specialist officers with knowledge and experience in recovering these types of debts. Allowing you to keep you team focused on the regulation and enforcement of the private sector in your borough.

Training

With over 20+ years of private sector housing experience we can work with you to design and provide bespoke training for your team. Whether if its refresher training or to help and mentor specific officers who have training needs that you have identified in their 1-1 or as part of a conduct and capability review, we can provide quality and supportive training.
